2024 NFL Gameday Thread

Yikes. I certainly want the Vikings to lose, but wow did they get boned there. Still low chance of winning, but they at least should still have a shot.

Guess NY didn’t feel like buzzing in on that one. Nah, we’re good.

Lions Hangover confirmed.

They said it was unreviewable. Which is, of course, a stupid rule.

The eye in the sky picked up a flag for lineman down field a few weeks ago. That isn’t reviewable either.

That’s why the eye in the sky is unfair. It’s used for teams they want to win.

All that said. Vikings lost because big brain coach ran a play 1st and 10 from the 2 with like 30 seconds left in the half and their LT died

Thanks Kevin

Big Brain McVay tried to lose it by calling a sweep and a swing pass when he absolutely needed to stay in bounds.

Yep. With 4 minutes to go 3rd and 9 you need a first down. Those TO do not matter

With 3:00 to go and it’s 1st and 10 and they have no TO you go run run run coffin punt. They will have 75 seconds max to go 90 yards with 0 TO will Sam fucking darnold

Random madden players would have better clock management

Just look at the lions and Campbell on Sunday. Masterclass both halves.

Coaches rolling out their most valuable assets in hopeless situations when they wouldn’t let them come within a mile of a preseason game is really something.

I’m still bitter about Rodgers faking it vs the Lions and getting a second Hail Mary shot. 2015 or 2016.

It’s such a big penalty and it’s rarely ambiguous on replay.

I’m on team “don’t make penalties reviewable even egregious ones because then the definition of egregious becomes ambiguous and a point of contention.” This has nothing to do with me having money on Rams -9.5 last night.

I don’t hate the play call even though I tend to agree you just keep it on the ground. That was a questionable call by McVay but really a big mistake by Kupp for trying to cut that run outside and pick up the first rather than focusing on staying inbounds.

Make it part of the normal challenge system.

We tried that for one year on pi and it lead to coaches trying to just challenge everything and the refs deciding they werent gonna overturn shit.

I agree that Fm is less subjective but we’ve tried this make a rule change because of one egregious bad call and it didn’t work. No need to try again.

My issue with the play call is it seems designed merely to waste two or three additional seconds versus a run play. Which doesn’t seem to outweigh the potential risks, such as an incompletion or doing what Kupp did. But I agree the blame mostly falls to Kupp, not the call.

Im pretty sure it was a high percentage completion designed to get kupp in space to try for a first down, and not just run it into traffic and settle for a punt. He committed the cardinal sin of going out of bounds.

Yeah, I guess they see a first down as a potential outcome. But on 3rd and 12 I wonder how much more likely a first down is on a WR screen type play vs. the potential for a stopped clock.

That’s why it’s on the coach. Just assume all your players are 80 IQ fast guys.

Jordan Love hurt again. Did something to his knee after a throw. Played another series, three and out with one throw. In the tent.

Update: He’s back on the field for the next possession.

Drake Maye! :vince2:
