That’s fair but you are wrong. There is actual data that shows campbell’s decisions have added more win equity than any other coach in the last three years and it’s not close
Sure it helps having Johnson as OC, but I’m talking purely from a go for it / punt / FG view
Like the chargers game last year.
Jim Caldwell kicks the FG on 4th down instead of going for it.
We make that FG. Chargers come down the field and score to win the game
It’s like that over and over. Draining that clock to 15 seconds and kicking was a masterclass
And you might say “oh every coach would do that”
They don’t. I saw fat Mike throwing the ball in that spot a few weeks ago and they lost.
If we are going pure in the moment, I might agree. Otherwise I’m throwing McVay and Harbaugh in addition to the previously mentioned.
Kyren Williams being a td machine is no small feat and the Ravens are contending every year.
I wouldn’t argue Tomlin but I think he has to be re-evaluated when you look at the defense and having success with Fields. Playing Wilson looks correct now too.
O’Connell gets an honorable mention. The resurgence of Darnold doesn’t look like a flash in the pan. Lions are the more well oiled machine but that passing attack is a problem, especially for Detroit, even if they are playing the best right now.
Come on man. Fat Mike isn’t evidence of anything other than “best coach who doesn’t mind being Jerry’s bitch.”
Cowboys are DOA with Dak, and with Jerry as the owner. I have no shits to give until Dak is gone, and maybe Jerry too, at this point.
I remember him quite well from his Dolphins head coaching stint. He was so abjectly terrible that it seems unlikely that he could ever become the “best in the league”. It’s not implausible that he developed into a good coach, but best would seem impossible.
It would be like the dumbest kid in 5th grade ending up valedictorian at high school graduation. I’m sure it’s theoretically possible, but it pretty much never happens.
If anything that argues against his coaching prowess. It’s hard to mess up with a team that stacked and Goff is on an incredibly sick, unsustainable heater.
If he had a lot to do with personnel, he should get credit for that, but not coaching credit. Perhaps Campbell the GM is great and Campbell the Coach is mid.
Bellichick faced a similar criticism towards the end of his career in NE (i.e., Bellichick the GM was terrible, but Bellichick the Coach was the GOAT).
Is there anyone who is more “faster than he looks” than D. Henry? Personally, I think Dickerson is the GOAT in that category, but I doubt most remember him.
I’m fine with the onside kick having to be declared. There is really no other way with this new dumb kickoff. But why only 4th quarter? Why only trailing team? Is that just to protect idiot coaches from themselves. Come on!
