Imagine being a woman married to one of those fucking losers.
Wait, as a former Bay Area guy and Niners fan (like, from when I was a kid) but also as someone who does not follow NFL at all anymore, I have to ask: are you saying conservatives are rooting for SF? What?
South Korea is hell
Light rail trip report. Fifteen minute walk to the station, another 15 to the airport. The app for ticket purchase and train info is a little confusing. Overall, I give UTA TRAX 3 out of 4 pitchforks.
Travel newb question: is there any disadvantage to checking in early for a flight the next day?
Depends on which airline and if you have an assigned seat.
Frontier. Assigned seat is extra, so not doing it. If it doesnât matter Iâd prefer to check-in early just to have it done and reduce anxiety.
I canât think of any disadvantage to checking in as soon as possible. Every scenario I can think of it either doesnât matter or itâs better to checkin sooner rather than later.
I think Frontier assigns middle and rear seats to earlier check-ins, but they may have changed their algorithm. Before I got elite status on Frontier, I was more likely than not to get a window or aisle seat by waiting until I got to the airport to check in online.
In addition to the Swift effect, their best defensive player is an unabashed, outspoken MAGA dipshit. I had actually forgotten about him myself until I was reminded yesterday. Makes it an easy call for the MAGA folks. It does seem counterintuitive, but thatâs the way it is.
You can tell how terminally online Fox News is by the way they casually use the term âpsyop.â
THATâS SOCIALISM!
Discovered a discount store near my work that sells a 12-count box of Nature Valley bars for $2. Less than what the deli charges for a 2-count pack!
30 days in and my scale gave me a 7 pound bump yesterday so it may be time to get a new scale. Still under 300, still moving the right direction. Weather is getting hotter so I need to get out more. Seeing definite improvements from walk to walk, which is nice.
Mark Cubanâs two best players of all time are white. Dirk and Luka.
do you think it really makes a difference to go to one of these lottery high schools where everyone who attends goes to college? are the teachers going to be much better? obviously less risk of violence on campus. itâs not like the regular HS with 85% graduation rate isnât offering AP/Cambridge.
For some kids it wonât matter. For many, imo it will. In my experience, by the time kids are in high school there is no bigger influence on them than their peers. Just the fact that a high school like that is all kids who chose to go there (or whose families chose for them) will result in a more motivated crowd overall.
I had a kid in my life who lived in Redondo Beach but went to the Manhattan Beach school district, one of the top public schools in the state of CA, because they lived close enough.
I definitely picked up a different vibe from the high school I went to, where being smart and getting good grades wasnât necessarily a bad thing, but it sure didnât make you cool. For the kids at MB, getting into a good college seemed like their whole world. It felt like most of their school was more like the nerdy AP crowd subset at my school.
Me, who grew up in a rural area:
Iâm guessing the nearest private high school education near me wouldâve been a 40 mile drive one-way. You just went to the local public high school, no matter the quality. Looking up data on it now, only about 30% of students from my high school attend 4 year college, while another 36% pursue a 2 year college or vocational program. I bet if we didnât have a community college in the same town then those 2 year and vocational numbers would plummet. All in all, 66% pursuing post-secondary education is a little better than I assumed for those bumpkins.
I guess there is a Christian school in the area but it only serves K-8 and probably only has 100 students across all grades.
I grew up somewhere in between. My parents tried to send me to a private school for high school because the local school âwasnât good enoughâ or whatever. We went to the private schoolâs open house and, I shit you not, they brought the choir out to sing R Kellyâs âThe Worldâs Greatestâ. After that I told them there was no chance in hell I was going to that school.
