They can also be used to press propellant into pellets for rocket motor igniters or (maybe) really big guns although it would be impractical and probably dangerous to do manually.

Fucking hell. She got the death penalty because the AI system flagged her for 3 violations for the same listing, which she sold before the first warning, and never listed again. AND a human refuses to overturn what is obviously a huge AI mistake on appeal.

I basically had the same thing happen to me with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. Except thankfully I wasn’t owed much in royalties and I hadn’t built a business around it.

There needs to be some kind of federal oversight to this shit. If someone harms you you have legal recourse. But if a monopolist that owns the marketplace capriciously decides to ban you, you’re SOL.

This is only going to get so much worse with AI fraud detection. By far the path of least resistance will be to just let the AI decision stand and keep humans out of the loop, or have humans that are heavily incentivized not to overturn the AI’s decision. Executives will crunch the numbers and determine that losing a few innocent sellers is far more profitable than trying to run a legitimate appeal system.

YouTube is the same. You can be de-monetized or worse and given no specific reason why and it’s damn near impossible to get a human to actually work with you and get it overturned. You can click a button and appeal but that’s pretty worthless.

This is another gnarly account suspension for no reason, only reversed because her tweet went viral and an executive saw it. Basically one of their systems flagged her account for 3rd party logons (which is way more information than anyone usually gets, and might have been what happened to me with Amazon KDP, but I’ll never know).

  • Six of seven eBay executives and employees landed in federal prison for their vicious cyberstalking and terror campaign against a Natick, MA couple they believed to be critical of eBay. The seventh awaits sentencing. The couple ran a popular online e-commerce newsletter and Twitter blog “eCommerceBytes”, eCommerceBytes. eBay’s plan included sending the severed head of a fetal pig, a funeral wreath, a pig’s head mask, pornography, and a book about coping with the loss of a spouse. The couple is pursuing a civil complaint, including Devin Wenig, former CEO of eBay, and former SVP Steven Wymer.

These people are just straight up evil.

It sounds like the content creators need Youtube more than Youtube needs them.

I guarantee there’s an arbitration clause in the terms of service that prevents these cases from going to open court and prevents class actions. I currently have a case in arbitration against Amazon for shutting down a store without legitimate justification.

YT is moving to all AI produced shorts. No, YT doesn’t really need people making real videos anymore.

My hope is that as the likelihood that something you encounter on the internet is AI generated, people will just log on less

In okc I heard.

I got banned from google Adsense for nothing I did wrong. No recourse, no legitimate appeal.

Some people in the thread have tagged eBay customer service for help and an eBay bot responds. Maddening.

I was just reading something and the phrase “cercles de jeux” came up, which is the term for a French gaming establishment.

Now, I took four years of French in high school and recognized those words, but boy did I think it was something else for a second.

My daughter was on a Greyhound bus when the driver died. They went into the median on the interstate at full speed. Some minor crashing. The driver didn’t die immediately and a cop was in there while he was breathing his last and the cop was trying to get the driver to incriminate himself for drinking when he clearly just had a heart attack or something like that (was an old overweight guy).
