I mean, its capitalism hand in hand with the industrial revolution. Not one or the other.

Would love to hear about the economics when you get a chance. Im basically on the ā€œkeep improving things and move on this when the price gets low enoughā€ train at the moment.

Also socialism though right? Like public schools and Universities and maybe even central government controlled banking and currency and health care and social security and all the business and environmental regulations that brought developed economies out of the Dickensian dystopia (somewhat) on and on (and the introduction of those things corresponds a lot more closely in time with the increases in general prosperity), but itā€™s just complicated. The ā€œThanks Capitalismā€ is just another flavor of thoughtless flag waving and a lot of Communists do the same thing as well.

Agree, itā€™s a mistake to blame capitalism for all of societyā€™s ills and a mistake to give it credit for all the successes.

Capitalism has a few great tricks like revealing an equilibrium price for millions of things dynamically, enabling efficient flow of resources, and using greed as a motivator for productivity, (I think you canā€™t have prosperity without those things), but itā€™s also a tool for exploitation and often counterproductive in terms of equity and social justice. It also can be short sighted and not efficient when the positive impacts of things are temporally distant or indirect. Socialism and social welfare are often the opposite.

Society needs all the things, prosperity, justice, equity. On equity I think thereā€™s room for a debate to what degree but weā€™re way too far between rich and poor in todayā€™s society.

Doctor is now sending a preauth. From the research Iā€™ve done I think this is going to be a slog. Iā€™m not going to pay out of pocket.

World Cup of Darts is live. Free stream available on PlutoTV. USA (-150) against Portugal today at 3:15 EST. Not a gimme b/c Portugal has world #30 Jose de Sousa. Both USA players are current PDC Tour card holders and top 150 order of merit.

Big deal. We have languages coming into our country. We donā€™t have one instructor in our entire nation that can speak that language. Languages nobody has heard of.

Struggling to find a French speaker tho?

Dunno if this is where it was, but apparently recently they made some areas in BC where you can drink outside in public.

Insurance (Anthem Platinum PPO) straight-up denied authorization. Iā€™d need to either have a BMI over 40, or over 35 with co-morbidities, and Iā€™m at 32/33 with co-morbidities. So Iā€™m not fat enough.

With the Zepbound discount card, it would be $550 for a month paying out of pocket. Despite my statement above Iā€™m thinking about it. My intention was never to use it long-term, and if it improves the quality of my life by helping with the apnea that is not a prohibitive amount in the grand scheme of things.

They are fucking you. Check out reddit Reddit r/semaglutidefreespeech for additional options. Or try the coupon and see if the insurance landscaper improves, maybe dive into more details about your carrier from online forums/complaints to see what works.

Itā€™s a miracle drug imo. Just give a try for a month. Within a day youā€™ll realize how ectomorphs live.

Iā€™ve gone from 251 to 235 in 9 weeks, still lifting the same amount at the gym. And my blood pressure has dropped. That visceral fat (under the muscle, around organs, etc.) is a killer.

Iā€™m just draining my HSA right now, which isnā€™t money I ever thought about anyway. When that runs out after a year Iā€™ll probably go off it.

Iā€™ve been finding it hard to refill my prescription for Ozempic in Aus. Then went to the GP who told me that theyā€™ve cracked down on compounding pharmacies and stopped docs from prescribing it for anything but diabetes.

So I may have to switch to Saxenda, which is supposedly okay, but the once per day injection is gonna be a pain.

Also. Much more expensive.

Why only diabetes? Is there a different brand youā€™re supposed to use for obesity?

Iā€™m not sure exactly.

Seems some combination of the drug companies, the regulators and the government going slow on these.

In the US I believe only Mounjaro and Zepbound are approved as weight loss medications. People take Ozempic and the others for that purpose, but itā€™s off-label.
