Search Engine just dropped an episode today about these scammers. Was a pretty good listen even already knowing about the general concept of the scam.

John Oliver’s Boeing takedown is devastating. The thing is, we’ve seen this aerospace movie before, and we will again.

From my understanding a lot of them are human trafficking victims stuck in office parks that are basically prisons in remote parts of Myanmar.

He also did a bit on the Pig Slaughtering pictures above, which was a good episode too

Yea that’s a lot of what the podcast episode gets into. Pretty grim stuff.

Aw, I was expecting a c-word debate redux. Oh well, I guess that’s a classy vandal pensioner.

Yeah. The only crime the old lady committed was not using the correct phrasing.

They were mostly previously based in Cambodia but a crackdown led the industry to Myanmar.

Coincidentally, I got my first spam text of this kind recently, so I sat down and watched this episode. The scam centers with trapped unwilling workers reminded me of this Korean action comedy I saw a while ago. It seemed so implausible I almost couldn’t watch. It had its moments, though.
