2024 Election POST MORTEM

Two Tims. Two losses. How much more obvious can it be?

It’s easy to get good jobs. This is a really good economy.

Is anyone else torturing themselves by waiting for Trump to talk?

Anywhere I can bet on Trump actually sucking the mic during his victory speech

I’m trying to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas which is my go to make myself feel like a child happy movie. Not doing anything.

Just so you know, it was a pleasure and an honor to serve with all of you.

No, it’s not fishy. For decades now, voter referendums and polls have reliably shown that people even in deep red states will, on individual topics, favor things such as abortion, voting rights (including of felons), marijuana, police reform, social programs, taxes on the rich, on and on. When they’re dealt with as individual topics. But they still prefer the conservative politician. The only room for debate is the reasons why. Whether it’s like a purity thing, where different people are No on different topics so can’t vote for someone for all of them, or the Right Wing Entertainment “News”/talk complex that was already horrifying in the 90s without algorithms, or some intangible thing like voters reading phoniness into dems trying to triangulation and focus group things or even that Dems insist they’re GOP Lite, or whatever else.

Well at least we’re spared the hell of a ridiculously close finish, with all the ballyhoo from the right about voter fraud, and then still losing when the counting is done.

I understand. The guy in the picture is also a Tim, and it’s from a sketch where his character is responding to being disrespected in increasingly absurd ways. A joke to cope with the absolute despair I’m otherwise filled with at the moment.

This may come off as racist but ive lived in Mexico for last 13 yeara if that counts for anything.

I think the movement of white women towards dems after the dobbs decision might have been erroneously projected to hispanic and other "minority " women. Down here it’s not really seen as an issue about body autonomy. I also feel like women are more influenced by their male partners here than white US women. And dont even get me started about Latinx.

I remember a few years ago hanging out with trans friends of my partners and talking to them about pronouns. They didnt even know that was a thing and thought it was absurd that was an issue. They cared more about not being attacked in public. And this was in northern Baja Cali which is one of the safer places for LGBTQ+ people in Mexico.

I think the 2008 postmortem that GOP did is coming to fruition. "Minorities " are socially conservative and are looking for a reason to vote R. Having an “alpha” male strongman running probably helps too.

And then you have morons like jmak1n who claim to be progressive but see no difference between the candidates. They care more about being contrarian and virtue signaling and trolling people when it comes to politics than they do making a rational decision given the available choices.

Ive wanted Bernie to be pres since 2004 so maybe im biased. But the current dem coalition just doesnt seem winnable going forward. Lifting up poor people regardless of other characteristics needs to be the driving factor. Having a purity test for candidates based around these issues seems like political suicide.

And I realize we have LGBTQ+ memebers here and parents/family too. And if my words come off as hostilie i sincerely apologize.

I agree that the rhetoric of the president is important and had some nasty arguments with my brother who said only the political actions of Trump matter and not his rhetoric. And he holds a phd in classics and was as progressive as i am until the last few years.

But making a giant issue of something that affects a tiny minority of the population just doesnt make sense.

Im currently rewatching the sopranos and a convo Tony had with that 1 legged eastern euro really rang true. Americans have it too good and focus on bullshit abstract issues because their comfy lives give them too much time to think.

And i realize trans people face discrimination that I as a white male can never understand and calling this issue bullshit is pretty callous. But i think having someone that cares about disadvantaged people be pres is better than making sure the candidate is vocal about bathroom use and sports participation, etc.

Tim Walz should have had the goal of making JD Vance cry in their debate.

When you have an edge that large, you fucking push it.

Instead we got the “well I disagree with you but we can still be friends” act.

Well at least groceries will become cheap again, everyone will have high-paying jobs, and the border won’t be an issue anymore in 2.5 months.

It will be up to the Dem equivalent of the Russia/right-wing media machine to hammer home how horrible the economy is for the next four years. Oh yeah, that doesn’t really exist.

Wow wait till you hear how white men voted

I think I’m going to puke
