2024 Election POST MORTEM

Yeah, be technocrats in the privacy of your own home or at work or whatever, not when you are out on the public stage.

Right but this gets to Wichita’s point.

Obama ran on “I will give you health care”, had 60 fucking votes in the Senate, and we got Mitt Romney’s Health Care plan that wasn’t even written in a way that could survive the Supreme Court.

eDem messaging to poor people of “Your same life but 2-4.8% better over 4 years!” Just doesn’t motivate people

Yes.

The majority of this forum bought all those indicators hook line and sinker

Now that I think about it, that’s probably exactly what they’re gonna do. Why go to the logistical trouble and expense when you can just make theatre of it, then people in South Dakota can praise him saying “It worked! Since Trump got back in office, not a single person in my family has been raped or killed by an illegal! The GOP has my vote for life.”

I don’t know if I’d agree that the forum thought the indicators meant the economy was in great shape, and therefore folks weren’t struggling with affordability.

The difference I’m highlighting is that this is exactly what the right will do in just a few months. They literally believe that if you put an R on top of the same economy, then it is a good one. I don’t think nearly as many Democratic voters are that dishonest, otherwise this chart would simply have inverse red/blue lines.

It’s all about messaging!
And Dems are shit at that.
Reps are great at triggering the amygdala of fearful people.

Ilhan Omar did 10 points better in 2024 than 2022.

AOC probably did worse because she cooperated more with the DNC, didn’t vote against some weapons to Israel (voted present) and voted to squash the rail workers strike.

Eta: Jayapal did the same
Eta: Pressley ran uncontested this time
Eta: Tlaib did 3 points better in 2024 than 2022

Ilhan Ohmar one of the absolute best.

Yes. I heart AOC as well, but a lot of her constituents were not happy with the three things I mentioned.

Need more Bernie style.

Yeah. Fear won.

Looks like Omar did more like 1 point better, which is still good. AOC seems to be slightly up from 2022 with not all votes reported yet.

Are you sure you’re not comparing 2020 and 2022 from Wikipedia?

I don’t see a how the housing crisis doesn’t get exponentially worse if Trump actually deports 20m undocumented people. That’s the entirely of the residential construction workforce.

But the houses they were living in become empty and non-deported people can move in.

Could be. I’m walking my dog and using the phone and it’s not easy to look stuff up.

Arrow map (excluding west coast for some reason). A few modestly blue areas and a sea of deep red.

In terms of improving areas, you’ve got:

  1. Colorado
  2. The crescent from Atlanta to Charlotte
  3. The shore of the northern half of Lake Michigan
  4. The western sliver of the Great Plains.

What ties these four area together I have absolutely no clue.
