Today, Biggs said he will not vote McCarthy for speaker.
with the likely R total being 222, means McCarthy can afford 4 defections, or up to 8 Rs voting “present” at the speakership vote.
Easier than getting into college, I guess. Anyway he can just lie about it like Herschel or Elon.
If Biggs is a no, so are others. Biggs is a coward, he’s not doing anything alone. Gosar is with him, I assume.

ETA: McCarthy doesn’t necessarily need 218 votes, as long as some of the anti’s vote “present” instead of for someone else. Then he would just need a majority of votes cast for a candidate.

Not sure what Scalise No is at but it’s probably free money given that if it’s not McCarthy I really don’t think he’s the fallback option for either the QAnon wing or the moderates. Probably not worth the hassle and to pick up a few pennies after vig though.

Gotta win a majority to be Speaker. The only way <218 gets you over the top is if people start voting present.
