2022 Midterm Elections (Abandon hope all ye who enter here) butnahhh. or maybe?

The crazy thing is gas isn’t even that high by any historical metric right now. I have driven through a good part of the country in the last few months and excluding the west coast most places are in the low-mid 3s. I saw sub $3 in Texas and Louisiana this past week. I’m guessing the NE is high also but I haven’t been that direction.

ETA - Here is the last 30 years not adjusted for inflation:

We are basically paying Obama era gas prices right now and maybe 80 cents higher than Trump era prices with massive inflation. That isn’t that bad.

I just paid $4.85 at the cheapest place in town in the Seattle burbs.

Do you remember what you were paying in 2014 or so out of curiosity?

And then the twenty year old was never seen again.

My gut says ~$3.50 and Google says $3.62

Interesting. Makes me wonder if the prices are more regional right now for some reason than they were previously or something. Gas prices here and in much of the region are very much on par with mid 2010s gas prices.

NE is under $4. We’re usually well below west coast prices.

I don’t even remember what prices were like before February, I’ve just accepted the increase and get excited when I find a place that’s under $5 a gallon. CA not always GOAT.

Just received a very important email from the NYC DA

Gas isnt bad here right now, but we are going to get fucking slaughtered heating our houses this winter.

So much heavily discounted labor in that scenario, real AMERICAN business opportunities

Gas by me in Georgia is $3.03-$3.08. I’ve also been shopping more at Kroger lately and getting fuel points.

Well, maybe. Sure, energy costs are surging, but one result of all that energy we use is that we’re getting June weather in November this weekend.

Going to get slaughtered on energy costs… using the AC in November.

The only restaurant I’ve found that operates at a similar level of efficiency is waffle house. Sitting at the counter and watching/listening to the operation is pretty entertaining.

It’s really more like an investment when you think about it
